One can't help but be disappointed by a proprietor of a business using this site subjectively. A while back when this place first opened, I had the job of reviewing it for a now defunct monthly magazine here. The boss insisted upon looking at the article before publishing it, effectively wanting to censor something who's mandate is to publish only positive neutral content anyway?!? Perhaps there is something to hide here. That being said, I would suggest spending a few hundred NT$ extra and find one of the numerous cheap hotels by the train station or elsewhere where privacy and security and comfort are almost assured (your own bedroom, bathroom and a lock and key). This place is not comfortable or private, the walls are paper thin and security is questionable. My experience traveling this world has shown that sometimes there is nothing more unstable than a foreigner who is both alone and broke - which this place has often been home to.

A great place to stay when you first arrive in Kaohsiung. There is A/C on every floor and the place is kept clean. The place also includes Cable TV and internet for free, so it is good to keep in contact with family when you are there and search for jobs. The cheapest place you will find in Kaohsiung. I highly recommend it.
