Of course it is merely a pond, but indeed surprising that it somehow shields the green areas of noise. From what I've heard, the small body of water here stands for the purpose of filtering nearby run off of somesort. For a long time since arriving to Taiwan I came to the conclusion that if we colonized space or other planets, I think Taiwanese would be the masters of and assigned to engineering the construction and fabrication of manmade gardens and botanical stations. They really do it well here under extreme ecological and environmental conditions (good and bad).

Dreaming in Taroko.

For the longest time I didn't actually know this was a park. I usually only came this way on Meng-Cheng to head to the Bayou and of course at night, and as the park is beyond a bit of an embankment, I never noticed it for a long time.

I do enjoy heading there when the weather is nice and I just want to stroll around, as Donny stated it can be quiet when you actually get into the place and there are nice big areas of green and I agree, I'm glad they didn't stock the 'lake' (more like a pond to me) with fish.

A rare find in the urban, pavement-covered sprawl of San Min District. A few years ago, most of the area surrounding this park was empty fields awaiting development. The area is huge! In the middle is a man-made lake surrounded by yards and yards of green grass and trees. There's also a basketball court and a field that can be used for everything from soccer to frisbee to sandlot baseball games. This is a great place to have a picnic or just catch some rays.

Thankfully the city planners had the wherewithal to allow for such a scenic area that is surprisingly serene- the traffic noise from Ming Cheng Road is barely noticeable when you are in the vicinity of the lake. Moreover, they also had the foresight to not stock the lake with fish. The sight of betel nut-chewing dudes toting fishing poles would seriously detract from the beauty of this park.
