I had studied Mandarin for 2 years prior to my arriving in Taiwan. When I came in 2006 I found out about the program at NKNU and began to further my studies there at their campus on He-Ping Road.

I studied there for about a year and for the most part had a good time. I met someone who is now a great friend, and enjoyed studying Chinese with a wide range of people from different nations.

The reason I no longer study there are as follows:
1) I took a semester off and returned in early 2008, only to find that several teachers had retired, and furthermore 3 teachers had been fired/let go.
2) Because of this, and the fact that the center did not hire new teachers, each of the classes balooned in size. Classes before generally were 5-10 people, however returning my class was 18 people.
3) The staff and manager of the center were not at all helpful to students.

I personally pulled out and looked for somewhere else to study Chinese because of this and a few other reasons. Of course these events have happened nealy a year ago now, so things may have changed, however I do recommend people to consider other options of studying Chinese, and if possible talk to students currently enrolled at the center for their opinions.

Also, I gave it 3 stars because for the most part while I studied there I had a great time, it's just unfortunate the events that lead to my personal choice of studying elsewhere.
