Weekly Events
This is a place with history amongst foreigners and perhaps locals too, but recently it has morphed into a venue with a desire to specialize in live music. A good effort I think by the new owner/manager is materializing to see it bear some fruit sooner than never. While I've often seen the bartenders sneer at cheap English teachers like myself who gloat and come only when the beer and food is cheap (or even free!), this far and away place from the downtown crowd continues to please old timers who have been known to consistently spend up to NT$30,000/month here alone! So this is a hang out and regular bar for those living out in the Niaosong district, be willing to take a taxi if your coming for a party.

Good bar, fairly roomy and spacious with a very high ceiling for the cigarette smoke to ascend to. Small stage and some decent bands get in there to play. Parking out the back for those of you driving a car. It is a good bar for those of you living in north Kaohsiung but for anyone living downtown, it is a fairly long drive[10K]. Decent bar food.

This open space takes the sutffiness out of your normal pub in Kaohsiung. It has a hearty warmth. All its missing is a big fireplace to keep in toasty.
The menu here is quite limited foodwise. Probably the one thing this place lacks.
Surprisingly not too difficult to find. I would say worth heading to for live music.

A great place to meet up with a few old and new friends. This bar has been under a constant evolution and upgrade for the better. The owner is serious about getting some talent in to perform. The price is right when it comes to beer and the guest weekend chef Johnathan's cuisine is very satisfying. It's a bar so be prepared to be inundated with smoke that will cover you for days! The pool table need serious relocation so party goers can get a little closer to the band. but if there is no more space inside or you need to get out of the smoke the party often spills on to the road...( Yikes only one bathroom,.. hmmm are those bushes across the road?) The theme of Cheer ringing in my ears ....where everybody knows your name!

As the name implies, the theme here is live music, both foreign and local talent. When they're not hosting a band, you can hang out and listen to great recorded music ranging from blues to jazz, and good-time rock and roll. The liquor menu includes red wines, cocktails and beers as well as shooters/shots. In addition to their regular food menu (burgers, pasta, etc.), they also feature a different entree special every day, priced around 180-200 NT.
The place looks like a million bucks, what with extensive renovations and upgrades. The friendly staff and management, coupled with the great environment, make this an ideal place to hang out for the evening.
